Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure is what’s known as a “problem play,” due to the fact that it teeters between comedy and tragedy, and for criticized “plot holes.” The upcoming WLHS production of the play, reimagined as a western tale in 1870, Virginia City, Nevada, takes advantage of this genre seesaw and the purposeful loose ends, in order to investigate some topical and important issues and themes – the MeToo movement and sexual misconduct; abuse of power within higher ranks; temperance and morality; and hypocrisy and justice. Be prepared to laugh, cry, and anything in between. Feb 28, Mar 1,2,7,8,9 at 7pm in the Black Box Studio Theatre. Adults $8, Students $6. Tickets available at the link above or at the WLHS PAC box office. This production contains mature themes and violence. Viewer discretion is advised.
