For those of you who would like an advance opportunity to sing/read through the selections we’ll be using for our 9/5 callbacks, there is a new “Callback Selections” document in the Cinderella folder (link in earlier post) listing the songs/measures and scenes! After the 9/4 vocal auditions, we will post a callback list that states the specific character(s) each performer called back should prepare for.
If I, Annie Kaiser, were auditioning for this show, I would:
1) Read the entire script (in the folder) and then familiarize myself specifically with ALL of the female-character scenes listed in the Callback Selections document. I personally like to have more than one day to prepare for callbacks, and reading through all of the callback selections in advance would help me to feel more ready.
2) Listen to the 2013 cast recording (the one with Osnes, Fontana, and Clark) and follow along with the score/sheet music (in the folder.) Then I would use the cast recording to help me prepare whichever of the two female 9/4 vocal selections best fit my vocal capabilities, and I would sing through all of the female voice songs/measures listed in the Callback Selections doc.
I would also be vocalizing (doing singing exercises) every day so that my voice in its best condition. If you don’t already have a vocalise routine, here’s a simple one to get you started: https://youtu.be/O7mMM67eyXY?si=cL8_dGFMFz1t8LVY
Mr. Beckingham, Ms. Kubitschek, and I are looking forward to sharing more guidance and insights with you about process and preparation at the Audition Workshop after school on Friday, August 30. Hope to see you there!
