A Number & These Shining Lives open next week!

The WLHS Theatre Arts Department presents a double bill on stage – A Number by Cary Churchill, and These Shining Lives, by Melanie Marnich. A Number is a compelling meditation on human cloning, personal identity, and the conflicting claims of nature versus nurture. These Shining Lives chronicles the strength and determination of women in the 1920s who worked in a watch factory painting watch faces with glowing, radium-rich paint. The play is based on the true story of the “Radium Girls,” and the toxic and deadly levels of radium poisoning they encountered. Their strength and determination helped shape today’s rules and regulations within the workplace. The plays run March 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14. Curtain is 7pm. Tickets are $8 for students, $10 for adults, and can be purchased at the door or online at www.wlhstheatre.org.

Members of our Thespian Troupe will introduce your young ones to theatre games, theatre basics, and prepare them for a final devised play performance on the big stage! All are welcome and previous theatre experience is not necessary.

Here is a packet with more info:

Robin Hood!

“Jolly Robin and her merry clan, Jolly Robin, gonna heal this land”

Robin Hood and her Merry Clan will be swashbuckling across the black box stage this week! Tackling the Robin Hood story in a non-traditional way, the Theatre Arts Department’s Theatre for Youth and Tech II classes will  be presenting an adaptation of Greg Bank’s ROBIN HOOD. There will be silly accents, thrilling fights, Hip Hop, pantomime horse riding…..and at least one poop joke. The show runs Jan 16, 17, and 18 at 7pm; plus Jan 18 at 2pm. Tickets are $5 at the door.  All ages are welcome!
